There are nearly 200 countries in the world, each represented and distinguished by a unique flag. Now, Swedish student Oskar Perkefeldt of Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm has taken the task of branding Earth and creating the planet’s pennant. The project, which is part of his graduation project, presents a white geometric design on top of a cobalt blue background. The white symbol central to the design consists of seven white rings, perhaps symbolizing each continent on top of a blue background which could represent the planet’s oceans. The flag is meant to be used when representing Earth, namely on expeditions into outer space, but also “to remind people of Earth that we share this planet, no matter of national boundaries.”
